Sol. If the bullet be considered from outside, not from the earth but, e.g. from the moon, its path will appear to be a vertical fall to earth, since the velocity of the bullet relative to the earth and the velocity of the earth relative to the outside observer are equal and directly opposite.

If the bullet be observed from the earth its path will appear to be a parabola, as normal, ending in the bullet’s fall to earth.
